He is the second child of Fereidoun (originally of Tehran, Iran and Katharine Mirhady. Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. Studied music at the University of British Columbia, the Musikhockshule in Cologne, Germany before graduating from McGill University in Montreal. While doing a Master's degree at the Julliard School in New York, he met Barbara Lane through a food co-op of which they were members. They moved to Calgary, Canada and were married in 1979. He has been a member of the cello section of the Calgary Philharmonic for 20 years and has also played with the Edmonton and Vancouver Symphonies. While in Calgary he has played numerous recitals and chamber music concerts and has taught cello to many young musicians. He is interested in various aspects of audience development and has been deeply involved with the Calgary Philharmonic's education programs. (July 2000)
