DAVID T. AUST , 31, LOVED MUSIC, WAS ROCK DRUMMER
David T. Aust worked with a landscaping company most of his life, but his real love was music.
For several years he and his father co-owned the Wolff Sound recording studio in Medina, where he was responsible for the recording equipment and often filled in as a drummer in recording sessions.
Several years ago, Mr. Aust played drums in the Medina area in a rock group called the Drake Road Band. He most recently was the drummer for a rock band called Midlife Crisis, with his girlfriend Patty Guinagh performing as a singer. The band had worked on a demo tape at the studio over the weekend.
Mr. Aust , 31, died Monday in an industrial accident at the Browning-Ferris Industries landfill in Oberlin.
Mr. Aust , who was employed by a subcontractor, was operating a sifting machine when he became caught and his chest was crushed, Lorain County deputy sheriffs said.
Lorain County Coroner Paul Matus said the death was an accident. Authorities were trying to determine how the accident occurred.
Mr. Aust was born in Cleveland. He later moved to Strongsville and attended Strongsville High School.
Mr. Aust is survived by his parents, Thomas and Dorothy of Medina; sisters, Carolyn Lough of Liverpool Township and Laura Hess of St. Louis; a grandmother, Elizabeth Langer of Holiday, Fla.; and a brother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Martin Catholic Church, 1824 Station Rd., Liverpool Township.
