Notes - Thomas Kelly and William Calow, both of Lonan parish, Isle of Man, purchased Laggan Agneash from WIlliam and Isabel Kewley, of Lonan, for £16 and 16 shillings by deed of sale dated 19th February 1808. (This William Kewley (c. 1741 to 1823) was probably son of William and Margaret Callow, nee Kelly, settled half of their share of the Laggan on their eldest son William in November 1836. He was to become entitled to the full share following the death’s of William and Margaret. William Callow senior died in November 1842.On 31 Oct 1849, Margaret Callow, widow of the Laggan, sold a house and garden at Glendrink to John Mylecraine. On 7 March 1850, William Callow and his wife Isabella and William’s widowed mother Margaret sold their share of the Laggen to James Kelly for £210. None of these Callow’s appear in the 1851 Isle of Man Census, so it appears that William emigrated and took his wife Isabella, nee Callon, his children, and his mother Margaret with him.Thomas Kelly Senior and his wife Ellinor Kelly, nee Kewley, sold their share of the Laggan to their eldest son James Kelly by deed of sale dated 11 Aug 1857 for £10. James also had to pay his parents £10 per year and after the death of the first parent the sum of £8 per year to the surviving parent. James Kelly and his wife Catherine “Kitty” Kelly, nee, Christian, now became the sole owners of the Laggan, which extended to about 25 acres.
