  • Notes

    • Ida Grace Kelly was the second daughter of Thomas and Louisa Kelly. She was born at Laxey in the town of Linden. She married George H. Thomas in December 1884. He was the son of William and Kate Thomas of Linden. Marjorie and Mona, the only children of that union were born on the Thomas farm at Livingston.

When Mona was a senior in high school, the Thomas family rented the Livingston farm and move to the Laxey community again where they bought the old Lee farm (and a mile SE of Edmund). They retired to Dogeville and bought a home on the west side near the present location of the middle school.

Ida was an attractive woman and a sharp dresser. I can remember her beautiful voile dresses. She loved to drive the horse and buggy. The family spent the holidays with the Kelly clan. The joy of the sisters when they gave each other gifts at the Kelly family Christmas party of the beautiful wrapped saffron cake.

With the death of her husband, Ida returned to the Livingston farm to live with her daughter Marjorie and son-in-law Arthur McNutt where she passed away.
