SHER, Ruth E ., a San Diego resident of 55 years, passed away on January 6, 1994. She was born July 8, 1907, in St. Louis, MO. where she grew up and attended Webster College in Webster Grove, MO. In 1932 Ruth married Thomas Usher and they were married 59 years at his death in 1991. She was employed at Marston's Department Store and Motor Hardware and Equipment Co. prior to joining the San Diego County Assessor's Office where she retired after 35 years of service. Ruth had been an active member of the Young Ladies' Institute for more than 50 years and held many offices, including President on several occasions. She also had been very involved in the Knights of Columbus and the Order of Alhambra with her husband. She is survived by sons Jack (Toni) of La Mesa and Bill (Pat) of Brentwood, CA, and Grandchildren Mike of Santee, Alison (Kurt) Jones of Laguna Niguel, Katie and Matt of Brentwood. A rosary and mass will be said at St. John of The Cross Catholic Church in Lemon Grove where they were parishioners, on Saturday, January 15 at 9:30 AM.
