Thomas V. Ulrich, 77, of Conway, died Feb. 21, 2013.

Born Jan. 3, 1936, he was the son of the late Helen E. (Daniels) and Victor Ulrich of Petoskey, where he also grew up and attended St. Francis schools. He graduated in 1954.

Tom's life work was in the hospitality industry, with more than 30 years as a bartender at The Pier in Harbor Springs.

He enjoyed golf, boating, mushroom hunting, sports wagering, and most of all sharing jokes. Friends called him the "Prince of Pun."

He is survived by two sons, Anthony (Mikki) and Mitchell (Bonnie), all of Florida; three grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, and Nicholas; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah; four sisters and their families, Bea (Jim) Wolf, Lila Goodrich, Evelyn Wolf and Velma (Ron) Benson.

He was also predeceased by his eldest child, Patricia, and two sisters, Patricia Stark, and Winifred Eaton; and one brother, Edward Ulrich.

A memorial gathering will take place 1-3 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Schiller Funeral Home in Harbor Springs.

A heartfelt thank-you goes to all caregivers at Bay Bluffs for their care during Tom's time there.
