    1. [S149] Staff, Obituary: Goldsmith, Betty D. (Padgett), (Name: Stone Funeral Home; Location: Petoskey, Emmitt, Michigan, United States; Date: Unknown;), Obituary: Goldsmith, Betty D. (Padgett).
Betty D. Goldsmith, 90 of Petoskey, died September 6, 2020 at the McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Betty was born on January 7, 1930 in Petoskey, the daughter of Wallace and Elizabeth “Pearl” (Geyer) Padgett and was raised in Clarion.

On September 15, 1948, Betty married Leo Goldsmith in Petoskey and made their home in Clarion. Betty was a true homemaker. She was a good cook and always made sure her family was fed and even made many of their childhood clothes. She made sure that all her children graduated and instill a good work ethic in them. Later in life, she always wanted those years back when her entire family sat around the table for dinner.

In addition to being a dedicated homemaker and mother, Betty co-owned Goldsmith Well Drilling with her husband Leo and could drive most of the equipment. She shared in making the family business a success. Later in Life, Betty owned the Yarn Shop in Charlevoix, which was her most talented joy. She learned to knit at 10 years old and made vests for the Red Cross, which gave them to soldiers. She later made many beautiful sweaters and quilts for family and friends.

Betty dearly loved her family and being a grandmother to her son’s children. She enjoyed NASCAR, Mud Runs, Ricky Lynn concerts, and living in their retirement home.

She is survived by 4 sons, William (Judy) Goldsmith, Carl (Nancy) Goldsmith, Art (Linda) Goldsmith and Mark Goldsmith; 7 grandchildren, Keri (Scott) Sheaffer, Erika (Alan) West, Noah Goldsmith, Willow Goldsmith, Missy Goldsmith, and by twins, Madysson and Makayla Goldsmith; and by a great grandchild, Sydney West. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo Goldsmith; son, Gordon Goldsmith; sister, Pauline Kenroy; and by 2 brothers, Chester Padgett and Norm Padgett.

Services celebrating Betty’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 15th at 11am at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Clarion, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Leo.

Arrangements are in the care of the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
