GRIM REAPER TAKES ANOTHER OLD TIMER
In the passing of George Hout, Sr., last Sunday this community lost a citizen who had lived here for nearly 80 years and one who had taken a keen interest in the progress of the community during all these years.
He was born in Clearfield County, February 15, 1863, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hout. His parents moved to this county when he was a pre-school child and he had lived here until his death.
He was employed in the Hercules Powder Company and also in the Local Tannery. He was married to Margaret Brechtl [Prechtl] on January 14, 1889.
For the past three years he had been confined to a wheel chair but kept a cheerful outlook on life. Although and invalid, his death was sudden and unexpected.
He is survived by six children: Henry of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. William (Clara) Webster, Buffalo; Mrs. Floyd (Margaret) Specht, Kenvil, N.J.; Mrs. Ray (Mary) Housler, George Jr., Mrs. Thomas (Julia) Cleary, all of Emporium. Fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held this morning from St. Mark’s Church and interment made in St. Mark’s Cemetery.
