Margaret Marie Pouch Mattern, 78, 7263 Clark Road, Harborcreek, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at Millcreek Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Port Allegany, McKean County, Feb. 17, 1922, daughter of the late William and Christina Schneider Daniels.
She had resided in the Erie area since 1942. She worked as a nanny for the Gerald Cohen and Dennis Hartwig families. She also worked for Stuckey's Restaurant and the Uthmann Chor Club. She enjoyed bowling, crafts and gardening.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Howard and Raymond Daniels; and two sisters, Amelia Daniels and Helen Germac.
Survivors include her husband, Everett Mattern, whom she married April 26, 1941; four daughters, Patricia Price of Corry, Donna Dixon of North East, Evelyn Minervini of Des Moines, Iowa, and Cheryl Clark of Erie; two sons, David Mattern and his wife, Vicki, and Kenneth Mattern and his wife, Brenda, all of Erie; a brother, Robert Daniels of Oradell, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 4940 Koehler Road, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there Friday at 12:30 p.m., followed at 1 by Mass at St. James Catholic Church, 2635 Buffalo Road, officiated by Monsignor Robert Cohan.
Burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
