  Catherine B. Universal, of Lake Grove,N.Y., formerly of Niagara Falls, died Tuesday [Sept30,1986] in Lake Grove. She was born in Port Glasgow, Scotland, to Bernard and Mary Ann Mangan Hannan, and moved to Ireland as a child. She came to Niagara Falls in 1927 and worked as a waitress at the Hotel Niagara during the 1950s. Since 1970, she has also lived in Long Island and Arizona with her children. She was a past president of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Ladies Auxiliary and past president of the Altar and Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Church. She was a member of the Bishop Duffy Mothers Club,the Legion of Mary and the Irish Northern Aid. She was the widow of John D. Universal. She is survived by sons, Brian H. and Dennis M. Universal, both of Niagara Falls, John D. of Woodland Hills, Calif., and the Rev. Patrick J. Universal of Pinetop,Ariz.; a daughter, Mrs.Moira Gulla of Lake Grove, N.Y.; sisters Mary Harkins of Scotland and Sadie Crompton of England: 11grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in Ireland and Scotland.
