Dorothy M. Bon, 96, a resident of Kane Lutheran Home and formerly of 455 Wolfel Avenue, St. Marys, passed away peacefully at the Kane Lutheran Home on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Dorothy was born on June 10, 1928, daughter to the late William and Clara Lenze Breindel. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1947.

On June 23, 1951, in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dorothy married the late Ludwig L. Bon, Jr., who preceded her in death on February 14, 2013.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter: Margaret "Peggy" Haines (Michael) of St. Marys; three sons: Joseph Bon (Bonny) of St. Marys, William Bon (Susan) of St. Marys, and Daniel Bon (Donna) of Altoona; nine grandchildren: Richard Bon (Jennifer), Meredith Bon, Joy Shaffer (Eric), Anthony Bon, Jamie Bon, Maura Jones (Patrick), Joseph Haines (Ashley), Martin Haines (Rebecca), and Rachel Wahl (Michael); thirteen great-grandchildren: Alex, Grace, Thomas, Samantha, Sabrina, Finley, Josephina, Connor, Bryce, Madison, Ronan, Ellie Jane, and Fynn; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen; two sisters: Clara Schatz and Margaret Breindel in childhood; and four brothers; William, LaVern, Leo, and Frederick Breindel.

Dorothy was a devout Catholic, who attended daily Mass. As a young adult she was very active with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, dancing, and spending time in nature watching the birds. She was a creative person, passing her creativity down to her children and to her grandchildren. She cherished the ability to share her talents with ceramics, sewing, and painting with her family and friends, whom she loved dearly.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00AM with the Rev. Thomas Curry, O.S.B., celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
